Erasmus Policy Statement

 

University of Pardubice Erasmus programme development statement

 

In accordance with the University long-term Plan, with the European Commission Erasmus Policy Statement and with he Erasmus University Charter1 between the University of Pardubice and the European Commission for academic years 2007/08 to 2013/14, the University of Pardubice2 declares the following principles and ways of their fulfillment for this period, as an integral part of the 2008 Long-Term Plan update. The Plan has the form of the Erasmus Policy Statement3:

 

Basic principles:

1. Student and teacher mobilities within Erasmus as a part of the Lifelong Learning Programme4 shall be organized only on the basis of agreements made by the partners. The University shall take care of the quality assurance in the completion of individual agreements in terms of their contents and organization, thus ensuring the fulfillment of mobility mission. The University shall support the development of partnership with the existing and new partners with the aim to effectively increase its openness in the international environment.

 

2. Students coming within Erasmus programme shall not be charged with any tution fees, registration fees, fees for examinations, access to laboratories and classrooms and to the University library. The University shall further extend the services for the Erasmus students with the stress put on the University information systems and available electronic and information resources.

 

3. Completed student activities rendered in the mandatory Learning Agreement shall be fully recognized as parts of the relevant study programme. The University shall strive for the increased concordance of the foreign partners study programmes so that the subjects studied abroad replace optional, compulsory subjects as well as compulsory options in the studied programme at the University. A higher degree of competences and responsibilities of the academic coordinators appointed at the faculties and departments shall serve this purpose.

 

LLP development priorities

The following issues are among the LLP development priorities:

 

- provide for a topical, easily accessible and transparent information about the university, its study programmes and subjects, as well as for other relevant information relating to the mobility, with the stress put on ECTS5 implementation;

- take care of the correct reflection of student load in ECTS credit units and on the corresponding determination of student learning outcomes in individual subjects, using internal system of learning outcomes quality assurance;

- design a suitable tool for the classification comparison, enabling academic staff to compare student classification by means of an absolute university classification scale according to a relative ECTS scale;

- pay attention to ECTS credits implementation as a quantitative (time) student load in PhD study programmes;

- develop international cooperation within PhD study programmes as an expression of EHEA6 and ERA7 interconnection;

- strive for DS8 Label and ECTS8 label acquisition;

- provide for equal access, care and services for all university students including the incoming Erasmus students;

 

*  To enable all students to use the available services equally;

- require standard conditions for the use of the services from all student groups;

- on regular basis, carry out student evaluation of study stays, internships, mobility organization and other aspects hereof as a feedback for taking the appropriate measures  to continuously improve the LLP quality;

 

* To integrate incoming Erasmus students into the university activities;

- continuously use and support “Buddy” programme;

- increase Erasmus incoming students´ integration in the university environment;

- increase the number of accredited study programmes and study branches taught in English, both in Bachelor, Master and PhD level of study;

- increase foreign language competence of students, academic and non-academic university staff, including the SKM9 staff;

 

* To provide Erasmus incoming students and their home universities with complete, correct and timely information, namely about the outcomes of their study stay;

- improve the student mobility management on faculty and university level;

- take care of an effective cooperation between administration coordinators on all levels, including the SKM staff, information centre and the University Library staff, and other university departments, if needed;

 

* To provide for high quality in placing the students within the internships with the aim of increasing their international flexibility, professional experience and their position in labour market;

- extend the ECTS academic coordinators´ competence within internships and study stays;

Support the cooperation between the faculty and university administrative coordinators in organizing of study stays and internships;

- provide for presentation of the foreign study stay information and internships in the Diploma Supplement (DS), despite they are not a part of a standard study plan and are not allocated the ECTS credits;

 

* To enable and recognize the LLP teaching activities, especially within Erasmus study programmes;

- improve the academic staff mobility management;

- Enable non-academic staff to participate in LLP mobilities;

- provide for mobility recording within the university information systems;

- make the conditions for preparation and execution of joint study programmes, such as “joint degree” or “double degrees”.

 

Support EPS activities

The existence of EUC and EPS will be indicated in all the relevant university materials and their wording will be published on the website.

 

The completion of Erasmus and LLP programme will be accompanied by relevant publicity and promotion events, especially in the form of:

- one-off events type Welcome Evening, Erasmus Day, International Week;

- information campaigns in attractive periods,

- promotion and information materials,

- website update with the stress put on the ECTS information package10,

- publicity in the university and local periodicals,

 

The University shall fulfill the LLP free from any discrimination; they shall support the mentally, physically or socially challenged persons participating in LLP.

All the above mentioned EPS principles and ways of the completion hereof shall be directed to an extended openness of the University towards international environment, a more intensive integration in the EHEA and ERA, increase its international prestige and to the provision of a higher quality in organization of student, academic and non-academic staff and their contracting partners mobility.
